Here is a quick link building idea for restaurants. ?This is a theoretical idea that I have not tried, so feel free to modify and use it as you see fit. ?If a variation of this works for you, I?d love to hear about it.
The Idea:
Offer people a free desert or $10 off their next meal if they do an honest blog or review of your restaurant. ?The review can be negative or positive, but it must be real and honest.
Here is how I see it working:
- The #1 rule is that the review must be HONEST and AUTHENTIC. ?Bad reviews are just as beneficial as good reviews, as they give you an opportunity to improve on your product.
- The request asking people for reviews must be displayed BEFORE the customer receives his food (so that they can take pictures, and get into a ?reviewer? state of mind)
- Every time?a review is written (and you are notified by the reviewer) you send them the ?reward?.
Rules:
- The review must be honest and authentic ? bad or good, the customer will receive the same reward (if you only rewarded the good reviews, this would probably be a violation of Google?s terms of use). ?Besides, if the customer had a bad experience, you want to hear about it so that you can fix it.
- The review can be placed on a blog or a review site (yelp, google local, trip advisor, etc?)
- The review must include a picture of the actual food/drink that is being reviewed ? ?No stock photos allowed.
- A reward will not be awarded for reviewing the same item twice
- One reward per visit
- Although NOT required, it is appreciate if the review includes a link to the restaurant.
- Once a review has been written, an e-mail must be sent to the restaurant advising them of the review (so that they may reward the reviewer)
This hopefully causes a few things to happen:
- Free PR as people start to buzz about getting free stuff
- You start getting honest feedback on how to improve your restaurant
- You hopefully start getting reviews which hopefully raises the ranking of your Google local page
- You hopefully start getting lots of reviews on blogs with unique content and pictures
Some posible negatives:
- If your restaurant sucks, everyone will know about it
- If this promotion really takes off, you will have a restaurant full of people photographing their food ? potentially ruining your ambiance.
That?s it! ?Would love to hear your comments on this?
